Through the lens of a nurse/therapist survivor, this presentation will be an interactive exploration of the connection between intergenerational trauma (IGT), traumatic childhood attachment (TCA) and the impact these experiences have on the healing journey of the trauma survivor. Supported by academic research, the concepts of IGT and TCA, the connections between adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s), risk-taking behaviors, symptoms associated with complex trauma/PTSD, grief reactions, chronic illness, relationship stress, and the role addictions play in the lived experience of trauma survivors will be reviewed. Re-balancing of the mind/body/soul will be explored through guided meditation, breathing exercises, music, and the creation of a personalized mind/body/soul healing plan.

Kelly Bohnhoff, PhD, RN, LMFT, ACTP, CLNC, Co-Founder and Volunteer Trauma Therapist, Josephine’s Clinic, Inc.
Dr. Kelly Bohnhoff holds a PhD in Psychological Foundations of Education, Master’s Degrees in Community Health Nursing and Marriage and Family Therapy, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, (LMFT), and is nationally Certified as an Advanced Trauma Practitioner (ACTP) and Legal Nurse Consultant (CLNC). She has practiced as an RN for 34 years, a LMFT for 10 years, and has taught as an Assistant Professor of Nursing in Forensics at Xavier University. Dr. Bohnhoff currently is a private practitioner at Catalyst Counseling, LLC serving severely traumatized children, adolescents, adults,and families. Due to the influence of early childhood experiences, she is Co-Founder and Volunteer Mental Health Trauma Mentor at Josephine’s Clinic, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit coalition of interprofessional, trauma-informed volunteer medical and trauma care professionals who serve victims of human trafficking and violence.
